Libya Claim First CAF Silverware

Libya claimed their first piece of continental silverware with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory over Ghana in the final of the 2014 African Nations Championship in Cape Town on Saturday night.

A tepid final had finished in a goalless draw, with all the drama reserved for the shoot-out where Libya raced into a lead and then locked to have surrendered their advantage.
But a miss from Joshua Tijani in sudden death gifted the trophy to Libya, who ironically were the original hosts of this competition before the civil war in that country saw the tournament shifted to South Africa.
It is also a triumph for their Spanish coach Javier Clemente, who has only been in the job a matter of months, and already has made history with the side.
For Ghana it is a second defeat in the CHAN final after they also lost the inaugural 2009 decider against DR Congo, meaning their 32-year wait for CAF silverware continues.
There were few chances in the game, but the best did fall to the Libyans.
A defensive slip early on from Ghana saw Black Stars goalkeeper Stephen Adams rushing off his line to clear the danger, while Ghana thought they should have had a penalty for handball soon afterwards.
Both Ahmed Kamal El Trbi and El Mutasem Abushnaf had good headed chances to give their side the lead, but the former saw his effort saved and the latter did not hit the target.
The result meant that just one goal was scored in the final four matches of the CHAN competition, with defences on top and a lack of creative ability to break them down.
Penalties looked inevitable and after Ghana missed their first two it seemed as though Libya would coast home.
But when the north Africans squandered their fourth and fifth effort it brought the Black Stars back into it, before Tijani put his effort wide of the left-hand post to blow the chances of his team.

Asari-Dokubo Is A Thug – El-Rufai

The Interim Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Nasir El-Rufai, on Saturday referred to ex-Niger Delta militant leader, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo as a thug, saying there was no basis for comparing both of them.

El-Rufai said this during an interview with Sahara TV, while responding to a question on his 15-hour interrogation by the State Security Service.
When the one-time Minister of the Federal Capital Territory was asked if the name of Asari-Dokubo came up during the interrogation, he said no, and stressed that he could not have mentioned Asari-Dokubo’s name because their personalities were not comparable.
“Asari Dokubo is a thug. I don’t compare myself to him. I’ve never taken up arms against the state. I’m a normal human, law-abiding Nigerian. I don’t compare myself with thugs,” El-Rufai said.
Asari-Dokubo, who is known to be a supporter of President Goodluck Jonathan and his administration, has at different times expressed opinions in sharp contrast to those of El-Rufai.
Many Nigerians have questioned why the SSS has not invited Asari-Dokubo for questioning for saying, “Nigeria will burn if President Jonathan is not re elected,” whereas El-Rufai was invited for saying, “If 2015 elections are rigged it might likely lead to violence.”
Asari-Dokubo also reportedly called El-Rufai a coward following his (El-Rufai’s) initial refusal to honour the invitation of the SSS.
During the interview El-Rufai also criticised the forthcoming national conference, describing it as a ploy to divert attention from the failures of Jonathan’s administration.
He said the conference would be a waste of time and money and would not help the nation.
“I don’t think that we need to spend N7bn to collect people with little legitimacy. It’s an opportunity to create political division,” El-Rufai said.

"I bought cars for all six of my children" - Actor Pete Edochie

The veteran actor said to motivate each of his six children, he bought them all cars upon graduation from the university.

"I wanted to motivate them and keep them away from peer pressure. Parents must be able to motivate their children and set target for them. The minimum target for each of them was to graduate from higher institution; their reward upon graduation is a car. And where I come from, it is important to keep one’s word; I bought the car for each of them. Yul who is over 30 (pictured above) is the last born and he got his too.” Pete Edochie tells The Nollywood Reporter

The celebrated actor who has been married for over 45 years said his marriage is about the longest in the industry and he never thought of taking a new wife.

“I married early and have remained married since then. What am I looking for a second wife for? I married a woman who gave me six children, what could I possibly be looking for in another woman that I didn’t get from this woman? There is no reason for it"

VIDEO: This Unarmed Man Dares Jungle Militants To Kill Him, See What Happens Next!

While travelling around Papua New Guinea, journalist Ross Kemp and his crew were ambushed by jungle militants and managed to escape unharmed.

Mr. Kemp is an award-winning investigative journalist known for his documentaries about world's most dangerous places.

In Papua New Guinea he was looking for the notorious "general" of some local jungle militia. He finds the man, and the next minute, the filming crew are surrounded by armed militants who point their guns at them.

"The next minute, they're trying to hold us up," says Kemp. "Three guys come running out of the bush. They're going, 'Get down on your hands and knees, get down on your hands and knees.' Now, you know at that point, you're going to become a victim.

It can be seen in the video that the sound guy is visibly rattled, but the cameraman keeps filming.

Kemp then pushes away a gun pointed at him and starts walking toward the man holding it, staring him down and repeatedly asking, "Are you going to kill me?" and then finally saying, "No one's going to f------ kill me."

After that, Kemp says, the militants went from being extremely hostile to friendly.
It's hard to explain how it worked, but Kemp got away alive and with an incredible story.
