Alampasu jets out to sign for Genk FC

GOLDEN Eaglets goalkeeper, Dele Alampasu will today depart Nigeria for Belgium to sign for Genk FC.

The arrangement had to be put on hold due to Alampasu’s involvement in the just concluded African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa, where the home-based Super Eagles team got the bronze medal.

The former Future Star Academy player told Tribunesport in Cape Town that he was sure joining a European club this month, but at that time was not sure of which club he will sign for.

But Tribunesport can confirm that the goalkeeper will sign for the Belgian side and will depart the country tonight.
Tribunesport was reliably informed that Alampasu’s agent Sola Orelaja arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday morning aboard Air Maroc with the plan to depart same night but due to a document yet to be released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the trip was shifted till today (Wednesday).

Tribunesport later spoke with the agent by phone and he confirmed that he would be flying out of the country with the player, adding that all documents would have been sorted out by this evening.

He, however, explained that the choice of Genk was to enable the player to have regular appearance for the team and that money was not paramount but experience.

The London-based Orelaja told Tribunesport: “Everything about the deal has been finalised, though the financial implication will not be disclosed now because we have agreed on it, but they have agreed to sign him having been impressed by his performance at the U-17 and his immediate transformation to the national team, so in the next few days everything would have been sorted out.”
